radiohead: house of cards.

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, and I’ll say it right now. Radiohead are geniuses. Consistently ahead of the curve for more than a decade with their genre-bending sound, intrumentation, music video production, and most recently in music distribution and online sales (or non-sales, if you paid $0 for “In Rainbows”…) Now they’re breaking new ground yet again with the video for their latest single, the airy and aching “House of Cards”.

Directed by James Frost and produced by Zoo Films, the video was shot entirely without cameras, film, or video. Instead, 3D laser plotting technology was used. The shapes and relative distances between objects are captured by hyper-sensitive laser systems and them visually mapped out by a computer. The result is no less than jaw-dropping.
