blind man’s colour: vine swinger.

Ah, there are few things that feel as good as finding some rad new music. We don’t need to get into what those are right now… but there’s only a few of them.

I’d heard buzz about Blind Man’s Colour (made up of Florida duo Kyle Wyss and Orhan Chettri) but never actually listened until Stereogum (which, by the way, is one of the ten blogs I’d take with me to a deserted tropical island…) featured their track “Heavy Cloud Hustle” on The Gum Drop. The first time I heard “Heavy Cloud Hustle” it was one of those rare listens where after 30 seconds you drop everything you’re doing – physically and mentally – because it’s just that good. Celestial and bubbly, it pops and sparkles and feels like crisp, clean air. Their sound is so free and vibrant. It radiates and shimmers and feels like it’s being blown in live from some retro, electro, beat-filled ocean.

Their first full length album, “Season Dreaming”, comes out August 18. I want it now. Nooooow.

On their blog they mentioned how another track, “Vine Swinger”, came to be: “a couple of weeks ago we stayed up all night writing and recording vine swinger. the initial concept and vision was much more chaotic but due to the candle light of the night, it ended up as almost meditational.”

Vodpod videos no longer available.

This low-fi, memory flash of a video for “Vine Swinger” was directed by them, I’m guessing. The video was posted by ∞∞∞,whose Vimeo profile leads to a blog called My Owl, My Hero, which has the same watercolour picture of a bicycle that’s at their blog.

It’s like a big, beautiful, non-sensical puzzle. I love it that these guys don’t seem all that interested in being famous. I really want to get a beer with these guys and talk about cloud formations and watch Discovery Channel.

They also posted this video for “Never Hope For Treasure”, created by Judson Pettle.
