I love it when my expectations (and my notions of what belongs where) are shattered. And when it’s done by a beautifully-honed image, then that’s even more kick ass.  It’s the sort of unassuming subtlety of these shots by Basque photographer Mikel Uribetxeberria that gets me. The locations are sort of banal and sterile, while the animals don’t appear unnerved; they’re almost pensively bored more than anything else. It’s the apparent, unapologetic normalcy of such an incrediblly abnormal situation that makes these shots so interesting.

kristofer ström + minilogue: animals.

Swedish electro-poppers Minilogue have the kind of sound that is just begging to be populated with perky cartoon animals. It would be almost wrong for it not to be. Thankfully director Kristofer Ström and VFX creator Erik Bucholtz have filled the vid for Minilogue’s latest single, “Animals”, with a full-on menagerie of animated wondercreatures. So cute. So happy…

quercus: total warming.

Holy shit. I feel riddled with guilt after watching this. This is one of the best environmental-awareness pieces I’ve ever seen. Seriously, I need to go recycle something now.  Heartbreakingly lovely animation from Seagulls Fly.
