Wiis are awesome, and I’m sure it’s only a matter of time until full virtual-reality cyber-suit psycho-gaming becomes a reality, but there’s something about the charm of an old skool 8-bit game that just isn’t going to die. When we look back on the rise of the digital age, from the future, these little babies are going to be the writing on the cave wall. A purity of enjoyment when the very fact that it was happening at all was excitement enough for all involved.
Nicolas Ménard understand the throwback charm of a simpler time. His new short – portraying Rockman’s (a.k.a. Megaman) epic battle in with nothing more than construction paper, marker, sneakers, forks, cracker boxes, and good ol’ stop motion – is a cool ass little ode to a classic, told in a classic film medium.
