skittles: feet.

It takes such huge balls to just be weird and hope people get it and not care about who might think you’re lame if they don’t. That’s why I’ve got so much respect for Skittles – their recent work has all been completely crazypants weird and they don’t apologize for it. In the same bizzaro-world vein of past hits “Pinata” and “Touch”, director/copywriter Brendan Hearne created this spec spot for Skittles. It’s so far gone and fucked up that you can’t really help but love it.

skittles: “piñata”.

I’m seriously in love with everything Skittles has done lately. Most companies would freak out at an agency pitch suggesting that their product be linked to a life of misery – but that’s exactly what happened in last year’s amazing Skittles spot “Touch”. You remember him – the poor, beleagured man with the Midas-Skittles touch. Everything he laid hands on turned into a scattering mess of rainbow candy. Skittles were ruining his life and they had the balls to put out an ad counter-intuitive to most industry thinking. In the end, the spot was hilarious, it went all over the net, and Skittles looked cooler than everyone else.

Their latest is just as good. It’s called “Piñata”, and I won’t ruin it’s twisted magnificence with any more introduction..

skittles: “touch”.

Creativity Online recently announced that it’s most-watched TV/Video spot of 2007 was the much buzzed about Skittles “Touch”.

In case you’re not a huge ad nerd like I am, you might not have seen it. And you’d be missing out. So even though this has already been around the web five times, in honour of it’s latest accolade here’s one more posting…
