discovery channel: “i love the world”.
20 04 2008If you’re a Discovery Channel geek like I am you’ll get a major kick out of this ad. And, if you’re not a Discovery Channel geek like I am, you’ll want to be after watching this. Which is what makes it such a kick ass ad.

Singing Egyptologists… what more do you need? There are little things that take a grade A spot and turn it into an A+. In this one, it’s clearly Stephen freakin’ Hawking singing “boom de yadda” at 0:53. That was pure win. Plus the tagline “The Earth is Just Awesome”… the casual use of one of my favourite words - “awesome” - that was, well… awesome.
Thanks to The Denver Egotist
Love the concept… everyone in the world is in love with something; even tornados!! 10 out of 10
awesome. i do love the giant squids!
Great video, I must say. Though the only stickler for me is the final tagline “The World is Awesome”. The word “awesome” is just overused and has ignorant American written all over it. I’ve heard it enough times to figure out that anything too sublime for American vocabulary is “awesome”, or in extreme cases “so totally awesome”. Other than that, as I said, cool video, and great post!
Hey there !

Where can i Download it!!!?
This is my favorite ad out there now, Discovery always seems to come up with the best though. It’s a real spirit lifter too.
Also the tag line “The World is Just Awesome” is incredibly fitting. The word awesome means inspiring great admiration, which fits perfectly with the theme.
I may just have to find a place to download the song in order to make it my ringtone.
Actually, I would argue that if anything, the ad works to restore the “old” meaning of “awesome” (as in, “awe-inspiring.”
Not some “stupid American” Valley-girl-esque usage of the world.
Because honestly, if the world of nature is not awesome, what is?
I will say - what is the basic tune that’s used? Is it something new, or a reworking of something? It sounds a little bit like “Heart and Soul” (that eternal piano chestnut) and it’s driving me nuts trying to figure out what the tune is.

It’s a campfire song called “I love the mountains,” and the lyrics aren’t too far off the first verse in this ad:
“I love the mountains,
I love the rolling hills,
I love the green grass,
I love the daffodills,
I love a bonfire,
When all the lights are low,
Boom-de-adda, boom-de-adda…”
